Day 25 Devils Marbles, NT

During the five hour drive from Alice Springs to the Devils Marbles, we stopped at Wycliffe Wells. It boasts to be the UFO capital of Australia because allegedly, a UFO landed on this site 40 years ago. I love the NT.

A C-triple?

We arrived at the Devils Marbles which are called Karlu Karlu by the traditional owners
(the Warumungu, Kaytetye, Alyawarra and Warlpiri people).

They are beautiful and sacred. The Karlu Karlu peoples request visitors not to climb but many do. Most dreamtime stories are kept secret.

We camped the night in the National Park. The camp ground was cleverly placed at the rear of the marbles so it cannot be seen from the road. All was magical, actually camping right next to the marbles.

Then the storm came.

Have you ever tried washing up, drying and putting away in a storm? Don't bother. A rough night but all survived. On to Mataranka Springs.

  1. I used to love storms! Tarps and tent pegs and Sue holding the torch light on the head of the peg until some noise would distract her and she'd be shining up a tree and I'f be smashing my fingers ,,,
